Giant spider web in garden

Making a giant spider web is a super easy and fun way to teach toddlers more about mathematics. The kids will also develop gross motor skills while constructing and weaving through the web.

To introduce this activity we read the book The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle.

We used a ball of yarn to create a giant spider web in the garden. Let the kids roll out the yarn and loop it around obstacles and trees in the backyard. When ready, tie the yarn and cut it off.

There are a lot of games you can play in the spider web, but be careful you don't get caught by the spider if you are playing the fly;-)
